Founded in 1998, the Birkenhead Brewery started as one of the first craft breweries in South Africa. Initially based on the sinking of the Birkenhead Ship along our coastline, our beers are inspirited by the ferocious power of South African landscapes and the charismatic characters that are found here. We now produce five different craft brews with additional special brews as and when inspiration strikes. All of our beers are filtered and pasteurised, with a 9-month shelf life. At the Birkenhead Brewery we pride ourselves on creativity and quality, with each beer lovingly crafted, mostly by moonlight, in-house by our small team of expert brewers.
Visit our WORKING CRAFT BREWERY and pub-style RESTAURANT & VENUE for tours, tastings and to take home your own draught or bottled beers. Tours of our in-house Craft Brewery are available on request through advanced booking, 11h00 or 15h00.
Additionally, we are available at Pick n' Pay. Simply make a request in-store if you can't find us in your local PnP.

Benson has worked at the Birkenhead Brewery since its founding in 1998 and is our longest serving member of staff.
